In this 6 week course for beginners you will learn the basics of how to make ceramics on the potters wheel. The course will run over 5 consecutive weeks plus a final glazing session which will follow 2 weeks later. As the class size is restricted to 6 people, you will get lots of individual attention and guidance. During this course you will learn: - The various steps and processes involved in making handmade ceramics from the ball of clay to the finished piece. - How to prepare your clay for using on the wheel (wedging) - Getting the clay centred in the middle of the wheel - Bringing up the clay to form the sides of your work (pulling up the walls) - You will learn how to make various forms, which can be shaped into a mug, a vase or a bowl - You will learn how to finish these pieces by trimming them to alter their shape and create a nice footring or flat bottom and professional finish. - You will learn how to add a handle or other decorative elements including carving The class is 2.5hrs long which includes clean up time. The course includes tuition, clay, glaze and firing costs (a maximum of 6 pieces will be fired) Good to know: You will get dirty so please bring an apron, an old hand towel, and wear clothes (and shoes) you dont mind getting dirty. Also throwing with long nails is very tricky, so best to keep your nails short.

Cancellation Policy

Unfortunately the course dates and times are fixed, and cannot be changed. We will however try to accomodate any missed classes where possible, unfortunately this cannot be guaranteed. Cancellation can be done up to 7 days prior to the commencement of the first day of the course. A full refund will be given less a €15 adminstration fee. After this date a 50% refund can be given up until 24 hours before the start of the course, after which the course is non-refundable.
